Jigs and Bigs Fishing Report: 06.01.23

This week was a slower one for the jig heads, we all hate when work cuts into your fishing time! As for me, I have the same problem. All work, and no fishing….at least yet! I will (hopefully) have some salty reports in a couple of weeks.

Tim hit up a lake not too far into the hill towns this past Monday where the water temperature was 61. He said that he was able to hit a few topwater bass with the biggest being about two pounds. He said he did see a few beds with some fish on them, not really sure if they were just beginning or on the tail end – but there were some aggressive fish on them!  All in all I was able to boat eight smallmouth and four largemouth on a mixture of finesse ned rigs, and Topwater baits.

Shawn the Fisherman only had one trip in the CT river in the Berkshire Bass tourney. He filled out a combined bag with Andy using a drop shot for Smallmouth. Grind of a day! Shawn also advises everyone to remember finesse techniques on bluebird-sky days with rec-boaters looming around every river bend!

Don’t forget to check out the latest episodes of the Jigs & Bigs podcast! Chrissy Radwilowicz even joins in on the latest episode to talk fishing AND about her new PB which you all saw in last week’s report!

Last, but certainly not least:  This weekend is FREE FISHING WEEKEND in Massachusetts, no license needed! Want to try fishing? This is the weekend to do it! This is also a great opportunity for seasoned anglers to get someone new on the water to see if fishing is something they enjoy – you know, get ’em hooked! Weather this weekend might be a bit trying, but don’t let that stop you from getting on the water and getting after the fish! Tight lines everyone!
